Surgical Steel (SW) — Non-Absorbable Surgical Suture
DemeSTEEL Surgical Stainless Steel Suture is a monofilament or multifilament non-absorbable, sterile surgical suture composed of 316L stainless steel. Available in a range of gauge sizes and lengths, non-needled or attached to stainless steel needles of various types and sizes.
DemeSTEEL is intended for use in abdominal wound closure, intestinal anastomosis, hernia repair, sternal closure, and certain orthopedic procedures including cerclage and tendon repair.
DemeSTEEL meets all requirements established by the United States Pharmacopeia (U.S.P.) for non-absorbable, surgical sutures.
More DetailsUnderstanding how DemeSTEEL™ Surgical Steel behaves once placed in the body
DemeSTEEL Surgical Stainless Steel Suture elicits a minimal acute inflammatory reaction in tissue and is not absorbed. Due to its inert metallic composition, it remains permanently in tissue with virtually no degradation over time.
Because of its high tensile strength, DemeSTEEL exhibits very minimal loss of strength over time and has low tissue reactivity — making it ideal for procedures requiring permanent, high-strength wound support such as sternal closure and orthopedic applications.
Elicits only a minimal acute inflammatory reaction in tissue — among the lowest reactivity of any suture material, supporting a controlled, low-response healing environment.
DemeSTEEL is not absorbed and remains permanently in tissue with virtually no degradation, providing lasting structural support where long-term wound integrity is essential.
Because of its high tensile strength, DemeSTEEL exhibits very minimal loss of strength over time — delivering reliable, permanent mechanical support at the wound site.
DemeTech's Surgical Steel sutures are composed of high quality 316L stainless steel for maximum tensile strength and minimal tissue reactivity
DemeTech's Surgical Steel sutures are nonabsorbable, sterile, surgical sutures composed of high quality 316L stainless steel. Because of its high tensile strength, DemeSTEEL exhibits very minimal strength loss over time and has low tissue reactivity. DemeTech's surgical steel is available as a monofilament, making it the most inert suture material available — ideal for applications requiring permanent, high-strength wound closure.
DemeSTEEL exhibits maximum tensile strength among surgical suture materials, with very minimal loss over time — providing reliable, permanent mechanical support at the wound site.
316L stainless steel is among the most biologically inert suture materials available, with an extremely low reactivity profile — minimising the risk of adverse tissue responses.
DemeSTEEL elicits only minimal acute inflammatory tissue reaction, making it suitable for sensitive applications such as sternal closure, hernia repair, and orthopedic cerclage.
DemeTech's surgical steel is available as a monofilament, offering a smooth, uniform structure with superior handling characteristics and resistance to harbour of microorganisms.
Composed of high quality 316L stainless steel — a medical-grade alloy with excellent corrosion resistance, high strength, and proven long-term biocompatibility in implant applications.
Meets all requirements established by the United States Pharmacopeia (U.S.P.) for non-absorbable surgical sutures, ensuring consistent quality and safety standards.
